Legalization

Overview

The acts and documents produced by Pakistani authorities to be used in Italy must be legalized by Consular Office of the Embassy of Italy in Islamabad. Such acts and documents should also be accompanied by a translation in Italian, certified as true by the Consular Office, after the attestation of the local Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA, Islamabad). A list of translators known to the Embassy of Italy can be found here.

The documents can be submitted in person or by a delegate trusted person with an authorization letter and copies of the following: CNIC, passport, and if applicable, Carta D’Identita and Permisso Di Soggiorno.

Please note that documents attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs prior to 2012 will not be accepted.

With effect from 23 April 2018 applicants and authorised representatives can only submit one file at a time for legalization (unless applying as a family group). From 23 April 2018 an appointment is required to apply for legalization at the visa application centres in Islamabad and Lahore.
